Clinical Guidelines for Mastitis.

The article covers the clinical guidelines for managing mastitis. Redefinition of this disease describes mastitis as a spectrum of conditions, including ductal narrowing, inflammatory mastitis, bacterial mastitis, phlegmon, abscess, galactocele and subacute mastitis. The article discusses main causes and treatment for each of mastitis type. The traditional belief that milk statis is the main cause of mastitis is also analyzed. Future research should provide us more information about the role of the breast microbiome and its influence on preventing mastitis.

PL: Artykuł obejmuje kliniczne wytyczne dotyczące leczenia zapalenia gruczołu mlekowego. Nowa definicja opisuje tę przypadłość bardziej jako spektrum schorzeń, takich jak zwężenie przewodów mlecznych, zapalenie o podłożu zapalnym, zapalenie o podłożu bakteryjnym, ropowicę, ropień, galaktocele i podostre zapalenie gruczołu mlekowego. W artykule omówiono główne przyczyny oraz metody leczenia. Przeanalizowano również utarte przekonanie o zastoju mleka jako głównej przyczynie wspomnianego zapalenia. Przyszłe badania powinny dostarczyć więcej informacji na temat roli mikrobiomu piersi i jego wpływu na zapobieganie zapaleniu piersi.
